Across the road (Jalan Sultan Ismail) from Tune Hotel is Maju Junction.
Maju Junction is the latest shopping mall along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.
In the 1960's this used to be where many government offices used to be located. The National Registration Department was here. I remember that, as my application for an Identity Card was made there when I turned 12. So the NRD's presence in Maju Junction can be considered a sort of a home coming.
The Road Transport Department / Registrar of Motor Vehicles was also there. I used to watch learner drivers being tested here.
On the other side of the road is Medan Tuanku. This is an area of commercial buildings with retail outlets, offices, restaurants and offices. The post office here is also one of the busier ones in KL.
For the beauty conscious (both male and female) there are outlets selling beauty aids.
Behind Medan Tuanku is a heritage building - Loke Mansion. (view from the rear side.)
The home of Wong Loke Yew, was abandoned for many years. It used to be an art gallery around the 1980's and in the 1990's it was occupied by the advertising agency of Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing. Recently is houses the offices of a legal firm.
Loke Yew was among the founders of Victoria Institution. For his contributions he was conferred the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) by the British Government.
Nancy Kwan, who played the lead role in "The World of Suzie Wong" is the great grand daughter of Loke Yew. (source: wikipedia)

This semi-permanent structure is the area where the famous Lee Wong Kee Garden Restaurant, a popular venue for Chinese wedding receptions, was sited.
7 eleven is not the only 24-hour convenience store found in KL.
Pertama Complex is among the early shopping malls, though not the earliest, in this part of KL.
This shopping complex is popular for competitively priced mobile phones.
The Odeon Cinema which has been converted to a retail shopping outlet with 2 cineplexes within, mostly showing Tamil and Hindi movies.
