So far we've been from the KL Monorail Station towards the former National Archives. Let's now walk towards Jalan Travers.
One of the many accommodations available.
There are churches of all denominations here.
Food - one is never far from a stall or restaurant here.
I thought that there was a union to cover all postal workers, I didn't realize that the uniformed staff had their own union.
The Poslaju office is still here, except that it has a fresh new look.
After this we pass the Vivekananda Ashram.
Swami Vivekananda (Jan 12, 1863 - Jul 4, 1902), born Narendranath Dutta is the chief disciple of the 19th century mystic Sri Ramakrishna Parmahamsa and the founder of Ramakrishna Mission. He is considered a key figure in the introduction of Vedanta and Yoga in Europe and America and is also credited with raising interfaith awareness, bringing Hinduism to the status of a world religion during the end of the 19th century. Vivekananda is considered to be a major force in the revival of Hinduism in modern India. He is best known for his inspiring speech beginning with "sisters and brothers of America", through which he introduced Hinduism at the Parliament of the World's Religions at Chicago in 1893.

At Jalan Rozario, we come to a neat row of houses that look fresh and bright. The former railway employee's quarters would have looked like this, except they would be single story accommodations and look run-down.
Even the back lane is well maintained.
Another look at what used to be a railway yard and warehouses.
This used to be a popular book store for school books in the 1970s know as Anthonians...
....now its a supermarket, Sri Kota.
For some reason, the restaurant has been renamed after the temple at Court Hill, near Menara Maybank.
Although there are no more cinema theaters here, Tamil movies are still advertised on billboards, possibly due to the large number of Tamil speaking residents here.
Of all the buildings here, only this seems to attract pigeons to roost on the roof.
Another building where the top floor seems to have been added as an after thought.
Usually when you see a stall selling flower garlands....
.... there's bound to be a Hindu temple nearby.
I like the non-touristy pictures of KL. I did not realize the influence of a Hindu saint on this lovely city of yours which I visited in 2005 Dec. It is nice to see Swami Vivikananda being treated respectively in a Muslim country. I am myself am a Muslim. It is good to see other Muslims being open and not limited in their love and respect of others who are brothers nevertheless.
